|California Open is on twitter!
This year we're experimenting with crowd-sourcing color commentary for the event. Players who are on twitter are asked to tweet about the event and include the #caliopen
hashtag. Follow @CaliOpen to see how it goes.
I wish I was playing :(

I just dropped off my registration for Phoenix in the mail, extending the Scrabble streak to six weekends (yikes!).
Is anyone looking for a roommate or wouldn't mind a third? Floor space is fine with me.

Just an observation...
8:06am PST: I get my 2009 NSC Registration Confirmation email
8:08am PST: The Entrants list for the NSC is updated on cross-tables with my name on it.
Not super excited about the location but looking forward to 31 challenging games.

bad: dealing with scrabble burnout
good: playing no scrabble for a week and getting over burnout
bad: feeling rusty before a big tournament
good: Vegas airport has free wi-fi
bad: The aircraft for my flight back to SFO has "severe" maintenance issues.. Not sure if I can get home tonight.
If I have to miss *another* tournament due to air travel delays....

|san jose april08 game 1 vs. Almond Guts
Another new venue for the South Bay tournament. Director Bennett scoops me up from BART and we're off to the Round Table (the largest in the county). It's a nice space. I like having lots of light and space to spread out. Plus, free wi-fi! Div1 is not as strong as usual. Not sure why, was thinking it was because of the Passover holiday, but I don't think that's it. I load up on greens from the salad bar and play...http://www.cross-tables.com/annotated.php?u=1113
